Raju Panjwani

Chairman and Managing Director

 

Raju was a Managing Director with Morgan Stanley, New York. In his 18 years there, and previously at Price Waterhouse (PW) New York for 5 years, he pioneered and led many path breaking initiatives including :

  • Establishing Morgan Stanley’s first businesses in India which include Asset Management, Institutional Equity and Investment Banking.
  • Negotiating MS’s first-ever joint venture in 60 years - with JM Financial in India in 1997.
  • As Chief Operating Officer and Morgan Stanley’s India country head, from 1999-2001, playing a key role in investment banking transactions for: TCS, HDFC Bank ADR, Wipro ADR, acquisition of MS’s stake in Kanbay Software (later acquired by CapGemini), Aztec Software IPO, among other transactions.
  • Pioneering Morgan Stanley’s Offshore Strategy and setting up its India-based Global Knowledge Center which houses research and analytics activities.  This group grew to over 400 people in 18 months. It has now grown to about 1,000.

Raju possesses deep knowledge of US and India capital markets and financial instruments and products. About 30 years in the US and ten in India, he has the unique combination of expertise of contemporary India and the best practices of US markets. He has hands-on knowledge of institutional sales/trading businesses, investment banking and asset management.

As a principal of Phoenix India Acquisition Corp., a US-listed special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) focused on an India-based services “roll up” strategy, Raju helped raise US$ 57.5 mm, originated and evaluated over 35 transactions in India and performed due diligence on several companies during the period 2006 to 2008 - the biggest bull run phase in the Indian stock market.

A Chartered Accountant from India (1979) and a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) from New York State (1980), Raju possesses a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Delhi University (1975).

From 2002 to 2005, Raju was a member of the Board of Directors of US India Business Council, a premier business advocacy organization representing America’s top companies investing in India joined by global Indian firms, promoting economic reforms with an aim to deepen Indo-U.S. trade and strengthen commercial ties.

   

Kailash Biyani

Joint Managing Director

   

Kailash has extensive experience of over 25 years in the Indian capital markets. With his deep knowledge of how small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) operate, he has played a key role in helping many clients invest in opportunities for growth and diversification.

  • He is the principal of and runs AMSEC (formerly known as Asian Markets Securities Pvt. Ltd.), a contemporary full service institutional firm. AMSEC is a leader in initiating research on mid-cap stocks, and is much sought after for its calls in the derivatives markets.
  • His deep relationships in the community SMEs make him a perfect foil for deal origination. Besides, he has demonstrable experience in setting up and running a variety of successful businesses in media, retail and consumer products.
   
   

Archit Chandak

   

Archit has experience in deal origination, financial analysis, transaction execution, client servicing and high-level networking.

  • A dual MBA in Finance and Marketing, he has worked with high profile investment banks in India including Collins Stewart Inga and Mastermind.
  • He has worked with Private Equity funds, right from initial planning and due diligence to implementation and post-transaction solutions and has good relationships with PE Funds.
  • He has extensive experience in drafting information memorandums, conducting industry analysis, identifying M&A opportunities, performing due diligence, preparing pitch presentations and making valuation recommendations.
   
   

Karan Bajla

   

Karan has extensive experience in the research and analytics space.

  • Prior to Omega, he was a senior analyst at a Guggenheim Partners Company where he was involved in developing business models for global banks, investment banks and insurance companies as well as conducting investment research.
  • Karan has an MBA in Finance from the University of Wales, UK as well as a Bachelors degree in Engineering.
   

Kamlesh Kotak

   

Kamlesh has over a decade long experience in the Indian Capital Markets. A qualified Chartered Accountant, Kamlesh has tremendous exposure to the infrastructure and capital goods sector.

  • He currently heads a team of analysts that tracks over 50 companies across six sectors.
  • He boasts of an enviable track record of success in covering companies early in their growth cycle and providing investment ideas to the clients.
  • Prior to his current role, he worked as a freelance writer for various publications like DSJ, Observer and Afternoon covering capital markets related stories.
